¿Qué tienen en común Jorge Luis Borges y Edgar Degas? Aparte de que los dos fueron artistas en sus áreas, de alguna manera tuve un extraño encuentro con ellos no hace mucho tiempo. Sé que están muertos, pero esta es la historia... y es verdadera.

Aprovechando que vivimos en Argentina, decidí leer algunos de sus autores más representativos. Cuando un amigo supo esto me dijo que me podía llevar tres libros de JL Borges que tenía en su librero. Contento los tomé y los comencé a hojear. En uno de ellos encontré un papel impreso bastante viejo. Curioso lo leí. Hablaba de la "Pequeña bailarina de catorce años" una famosa escultura de E. Degas.

El papel también decía que Degas hizo, además de la original, 25 réplicas de menor tamaño. Vi, entonces, escondida detrás de las cortinas, una escultura. ¡Era una de las réplicas! Estaba ahí porque no le gustaba a la esposa de mi amigo. Obviamente, a partir de ese momento la escultura ha cambiado de lugar... y es tratada con más cuidado.

Ellos nunca lo habían sabido. Es más, no saben cómo es que tienen esa escultura en casa. Pero qué bueno que me prestó esos libros.

What do Jorge Luis Borges and Edgar Degas have in common? Appart from being artists, I did have a strange encounter with them not long ago. I know they are both dead, but this is the story... and a true one.

As we now live in Argentina, I decided to read some of the country's most representative authors. When a friend of mine heard this, he told me that I could take the three JL Borges' books he had in his library. I took them happily and started leafing through them. In one of the books I found a very old piece of paper. I read it quite curiously. It was about the "Little dancer of fourteen years" a famous sculpture by E. Degas.

It also said that besides the original, Degas made 25 replicas of smaller size. As I turned, I saw hiding behind the curtains a little sculpture. It was one of the 25 replicas. It was there because my friend's wife didn't like it. Obviously, from that moment on the sculpture has been changed to a different place... and it's also treated more carefully.
They had never known this. As a matter of fact they don't know how they happen to have that piece. We all feel happy that he loaned me those books.
