Nombres / Names

It was really hot here in Buenos Aires just a couple of days ago - 99ºF. So I had a beer in the afternoon that a good friend of mine had given me. It's a microbrew and it's really good. The problem was that when I thought of thanking my friend, I found it hard to find the right words in a way that the message would not be missunderstood.
I thought of:

  1. Thank you for the Sister.
  2. The Sister was delicious.
  3. I didn't know Sister was so good.
But all of these options could easily be misunderstood ... and without a doubt, I would face my wife's complaints. But, why would anyone give that name to a beer?

Scrool down for English

Hello everyone,

Here I am taking advantage of a relaxing weekend to update our blog. As you can imagine, Ana is the centre of every thing now. This last month she has surprised us a lot with first time ever things: birthday party, ice cream tasting, she stands on her own, she uses the spoon all alone (though it's messy), she blows, claps, plays with the ball.

We want to let you know that we have uploaded some pics we took in July, as well as a couple of videos. One is with her friend Matthew and the other is on some efects water can have on babies.

Enjoy

Mundo Pequeño - Small World

Ana me contestó con otra pregunta "¿Conoces a Francisco I. Y?"

¿No?

I should've written this story closer to the time it really happened, but I didn't. So, despite the time difference, here it is "The multiconnection or A small world".

Everything started on a sunday, common as any other sunday. As we were going out of church, we were introduced to Ana, a girl from Mexico. We all ate together that day. She is from Naucalpan, a city were Janelle was in the summer of 1995. After a short time, they realised they had some common friends there! It was surprising. Once again we meet someone who knows the same people we know some 5,000 miles from home - and well, for Janelle some 5,600 miles.
We told her that it was the second time it happened to us and I told her the story of Priscila. When I got to the part of uncle Oscar, she interrupted - "Oscar Flores? My uncle Oscar? I know him too!" Her parents and my uncle are very good friends. Ana's brother lived with my relatives for a while and my cousin also spent some time at Ana's.

Before she went home I asked her when she'd be travelling back to Mexico. She said that she had an open ticket that she'd gotten from a friend who works for an airline. She added "By the way, he's from Toluca." Jockingly I told her the name of the only one friend whom I know flies: - "He's not Pancho, is he?" Ana replied with another question "Do you know Pancho I. Y?"
That was how our encounter with Ana, was an encounter with several people whom we love and who are very far away from where we are now. It's definitely a small world, don't you think?

En el Camino / On the Road

Jack Kerouac

We used to introduce him as "Manolo, a friend from my youth".  Part of our friendship started because we liked the same kind of music.  Together, we attended a few concerts including Real de Catorce, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, etc.  We talked about songs and performers: Meat Loaf, Peter Gabriel, Rush, Sting, etc.  Besides music, we enjo
yed to read the beats, and among them Jack Kerouac was our favourite.  Everytime we found a book, we bought it, read it and passed it on... I don't think we ever returned them.

Last time I saw Manolo, a couple of months ago, we started talking about books and music.  After a short while we started laughing.  We now talk about children's books:  about sleeping, eating, how they learn to read, etc.  And music?  Cri Cri (a classic for children in Mexico for more than 50 years).  The reason?  We are both fathers now.

Puedes ver a Ana bailando

Ana surprised us from the very first day we were in Mexico. Mexican music captivated her and with the help of her classical dance professor, Alex, she learned, her first steps of a Mexican classic.

You can watch Ana dance
here. If the link doesn't work (I doubt it, but anyway) go to this page http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IShnmOukEDI#

We'd like to thank Canito, the cameraman, who allowed us access to this video.

Papa-razzi & Mama-razzi

Sinceramente: Papa-razzi y Mama-
razzi.

WE have to admit it, we take too many pictures of Ana Ana waking up, Ana crying, Ana without her diapers... eating, sleeping, smiling, in the tub, in the car, with her grandparents, with her uncles and aunts, etc.

Who takes the pictures? Her dad, her mom, her uncles, aunts, grandpartents, cousins, etc.

When we see all the pictures, we realise that they are almost identical to the ones we took the previous day... and thus we have thousands of pictures - I´m not exaggerating - of Ana.

But we enjoy them a lot and we want to shara a few with you. These are some of the pics we took in the US the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009.

We promise that the pics from Mexico will be out soon.

Sincerely: Pappa-razzi & Mamma-razzi
