One of the events that have always thrilled me the most is our traditional independence day Grito de Independencia, in Mexico. By the way it is not on May 5th, but on Sep 16th, and only to make matters a bit more confusing, we start celebrating the night of the 15th. I feel most impressed by all the energy and power of the event. My feelings are even deeper because I have lived out of Mexico for the last 10 years.

This year, as we did last, we got together with a few hundreds, perhaps thousands of friends – not all of them Mexican, but just the same we gathered – to celebrate our independence, mariachi music included.

This is the link to YouTube to see a home made video of it. It all was charged with a thrill, the highlight for me was at the end when we got some pictures taken with the ambassadress, María Cristina de la Garza Sandoval, with Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera… or their re-incarnations :o).
