Viejos grupos se reunen a tocar /Old bands get together to play again

Hace cuatro semanas unos amigos me invitaron para que tocara la batería con ellos en su banda - el famoso "palomazo". Me sentí halagado, pero también nervioso. La razón es que tenía 15 años de no tocar nada. Traté de no compromenterme, pero no lo logré. Entonces, además de tener que volver a literalmente "agarrar el ritmo" me di cuenta que había muchas canciones que nunca había oído.

Estaba nervioso porque ellos tocan juntos desde hace tiempo... y son buenos. Me imaginaba que esperaban que yo estuviera a la altura, lo cual era imposible... así que me puse a ensayar y a escuchar las canciones una y otra vez hasta el aburrimiento. Tenía dos cosas en mente una era tocar bien para no hacer el ridículo... otra: tocar mal para que no me volvieran a invitar.

Hicimos un buen show / We had a good show going on

Así fue como el 17 de mayo tengo algo en común con The Police, Soda Stereo y hasta Timbiriche... entre otros: volví a tocar con una banda después de mucho tiempo de no hacerlo. El día del evento pasó y la gente se prendió. Parece que no salió tan mal. Creo que toqué bien... lo sabré si me vuelven a invitar... pero de cierta forma lo dudo.

Baterista / Drummer

Four weeks ago some friends of mine invited me to play drums with them. I felt flattered, but also nervous. The reason was that I hadn't played at all for 15 years. I tried to avoid it unsuccessfully. Then, besides having to literally "catch the rythm", I had to learn many songs that I hadn't even heard before.

Ya no somos unos pibes / We aren't kids anymore

I was nervous because they've played together for a long time... and they are good. I thought they were expecting me to play at their level, which was impossible, but I got to rehearse and listen to the songs over and over til I got bored with them. There were two things in my mind. The first one was to play my best so that we wouldn't be embarrased. The other: to play bad, so that I wouldn't be invited to play again.

La gente se divirtió / People had fun

So, on May 17th, I had something in common with The Police, Led Zeppelin and even Twisted Sister... I played again after a long time. The event finished. People got into it. It looks like it wasn't as bad. I think I played well... I'll know if I'm invited to play again... but somehow, I doubt it.Yo bailé con la más guapa de todas / I danced with the prettiest girl

INFLACIÓN

El humo se fue... regresó ligeramente por las cenizas del Volcán Chaitén (ver mapa más abajo), pero al fin el sol salió definitivamente y ahí se mostraron los primeros signos de la inflación. Si no viste los videos, usa las ligas de arriba.

La inflación es un tema que se debate acaloradamente actualmente en Argentina. Pero no es de economía sino de nosotros. Hemos comido demasiados asados, pasta y helados. Pero también la que experimenté como resultado de una cirugía de hernia - nada complicado, solo incómodo. Janelle por su parte está experimentando otro tipo de inflación... y es a causa de un bebé. Sí, ¡¡¡estamos embarazados!!!

INFLATION

The smoke is gone... though it made a light come back as a result of the ashes from the Chaitén Volcano. However, the sun came out to stay afterwards... and some signs of inflation could be seen there. If you have not watched the videos, use the links above (scroll all the way down).

Inflation is a theme that is hotly debated in Argentina now. We are not talking about economy, but ourselves. We have eaten too many grilled steaks, pasta and icecream cones. I have also experienced some "inflation" as a result of a hernia surgery - nothing complex, just uncomfortable. As for Janelle, she is experiencing a different type of "inflation"... and it is because of a baby. Yep, we are pregnant!!!!
