El Grito de Independencia - Independence Party

No dejamos pasar la oportunidad y nos volvimos a juntar con nuestros amigos de México, Argentina y de algunos otros lugares para celebrar el grito de independencia. Lo hicimos en dos partes.



La primera fue el sábado 13 en la casa de nuestros amigos Julián y Fiona, en donde hubo hubo mariachis, tequila y lo mejor ¡¡¡comida mexicana!!! Hasta tortillas, que son tan difíciles de conseguir aquí.


Cantamos, comimos, bebimos y la pasamos muy bien. El domingo regresamos por el recalentadito.


La segunda fue el lunes 15. La embajada invitó a la comunidad mexicana para dar un grito más elaborado, pero sin comida. Lo cual solucionamos con una visita a una "taquería" después del grito.

Solo nos faltaron los fuegos artificiales, pero no se puede tener todo.

We didn't let this chance pass by and we got together with our friends from Mexico, Argentina and some other places to celebrate our independence. We did it in two parts.


The first one was on Saturday the 13th in the house of our friends Julian and Fiona. There were mariachis, tequila and best of all... Mexican food!!! Even tortillas that are so hard to get here.


We sang, ate, drank and had a great time. Sunday we went back for leftovers.


The second part was on Monday the 15th. The embassy invited the Mexican community to the celebration. It was in a much larger scale, but there wasn't any food. We solved this problem by stopping at a Mexican restaurant after the party.


I missed the fireworks, but one can't always have it all.

Un cumple más - Another b-day

A pesar de que tenía mis dudas acerca de festejar mi cumple, Janelle y Noé me convencieron. Así, de un día para otro se organizó todo un día con amigos.

Alrededor de mediodía fuimos a la casa de Tito y Noé en donde jugamos, comimos y en general la pasamos muy bien. Más tarde regresamos al departamento y por la presión de casi todos mis amigos vimos el video del bebé. El objetivo era intentar descubrir si es hombre o mujer. Como nadie lo pudo hacer, comenzaron las teorías de la forma de la panza, el anillo frente a la panza, la alineación de las almohadas, etc.

Fiesta - Party

Realizamos un recuento de los votos y sometimos a Janelle a la prueba de la cuchara y el tenedor. Para los que no la conocen, se coloca una cuchara en una silla y un tenedor en la otra. Se tapan con un cojín y la embarazada se sienta en uno de ellos. Dicen las lenguas populares argentinas, que la cuchara es hombre y el tenedor es mujer.

Torneo - Tournament

Para cerrar con broche de oro, el domingo fuimos a la Feria de Mataderos y luego los hombres nos fuimos a un partido de fut. No ha jugar, sino a ver, je, je.

Terminamos cansados, pero muy contentos.

En el departamento - In the apartment

Even though I had some doubts about celebrating my b-day, Janelle and Noé convinced me to do so. Thus, from one day to the next we got together with our friends.

Around midday we went to Tito and Noé's house where we played, ate and had a great time. Later on we went to our apartment and due to my friends' pressure we watched the video of the baby. The goal was to try to find out whether the baby is a boy or a girl. As noone could do it, theories about it started: the shape of the mother's belly, the ring in front of it, the alignment of the pillows, etc.

La prueba de Janelle - Janelle's test

We voted and had Janelle take the test of the spoon and the fork. For those who don't know how it works, a spoon is set on a chair (under a pillow) and a fork on another (also under a pillow... a different pillow), then the pregnant mother comes and sits on one. Pupular belief in Argentina says that the spoon is for a boy and the fork for a girl.

Feria de Mataderos

On Sunday we went to the Feria de Mataderos and then the boys went on to a soccer game. We didn't play, we watched, ha, ha.

We ended very tired, but very happy.

A partir de hoy sólo nos faltan 10 semanas para que llegue el bebé. No sabemos si es hombre o mujer. ¿Qué crees que es? Puedes votar en nuestra página, en el lugar en donde ves en esta foto. Desafortunadamente no es una democracia y lo que es, será :o). Pero de todas formas nos gustaría saber lo que crees.






The countdown has started. We have just 10 weeks left before the baby comes. We don't know if it is a boy or a girl. What do you think?
